In SQL Server 2000, per invocare l'esecuzione di un DTS da un client era possibile usare il comando dtsrun.exe. Questo comando era ridistribuibile sui client installando i SQL Server 2000 Client Tools (e comprando una relativa CAL, se necessario).
In SQL Server 2005 Integration Services è presente un tool analogo, dtexec.exe, ma non è distribuito con i workstation components. Per avere a disposizione DTExec su una macchina che non è il Database server è necessario installare il componente server SSIS completo, e per fare ciò, serve una licenza SQL Server 2005 full.

Install Integration Services
Although installing Workstation components lets you design packages in BI Development Studio, running packages outside the development environment requires the installation of Integration Services. Subject to the terms of your SQL Server licensing agreement, you may be able to run Setup again to add Integration Services to your installation. SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS) is now a server component and is not redistributable to client computers in the same manner that the components required for SQL Server 2000 Data Transformation Services (DTS) were redistributable.
