The term service is
used to indicate any external software component that provides business
services. This includes, but is not limited to, XML Web Services. Services
expose a service interface to which all
inbound messages are sent. The definition of the set of messages that must be
exchanged with a service in order for the service to perform a specific business
task constitutes a contract.
