Stenterete a crederlo, ma il Time mi ha nominato Person of the Year per il 2006. :-)))
Ed insieme a me, tutti coloro che attraverso il World Wide Web hanno espresso i loro pensieri, hanno detto la loro, hanno destabilizzato un pochino i mass-media tradizionali, hanno partecipato alla creazione di quella sorta di democrazia digitale a cui tutti possiamo partecipare. Il 2006, secondo il Time, è stato un anno importante, perchè oltre alla Storia decisa dai grandi governi del mondo, dai grandi personaggi politici e culturali, c'è una Storia raccontata attraverso l'interazione di ciascuno di noi con tutti gli altri, resa possibile dai blog, dai forum, dai newsgroup - tutti strumenti creati sulla Rete Internet. Riporto alcuni passaggi dell'articolo che mi sono piaciuti moltissimo.
But look at 2006 through a different lens and you'll see another story, one that isn't about conflict or great men. It's a story about community and collaboration on a scale never seen before. It's about the cosmic compendium of knowledge Wikipedia and the million-channel people's network YouTube and the online metropolis MySpace. It's about the many wresting power from the few and helping one another for nothing and how that will not only change the world, but also change the way the world changes.

The tool that makes this possible is the World Wide Web. Not the Web that Tim Berners-Lee hacked together (15 years ago, according to Wikipedia) as a way for scientists to share research. It's not even the overhyped dotcom Web of the late 1990s. The new Web is a very different thing. It's a tool for bringing together the small contributions of millions of people and making them matter. Silicon Valley consultants call it Web 2.0, as if it were a new version of some old software. But it's really a revolution.

Credo davvero che dobbiamo tutti liberarci dagli schemi imposti dai mass-media tradizionali, che ci intontiscono invece di educarci, che ci sparano pubblicità a tutto andare ad alto volume, che parlano solo di calcio, che si inventano notizie solo per fare scoop, che ogni anno ci dicono di vaccinarci e di mangiare agrumi, che ad agosto ci parlano di partenze intelligenti. La TV è un media vecchissimo, tecnologicamente parlando. Io è da alcuni mesi - forse un anno - che dico ai miei che la TV così com'è sta morendo, che tutti noi abbiamo la possibilità di dare contenuti più intelligenti, secondo il nostro stile e buon gusto. Per questo dico a tutti voi: aprite un blog! Fatecelo sapere, dite la vostra, non riportate contenuti scritti da altri! Liberate il vostro pensiero! Usate Wikipedia o YouTube per trasmettere conoscenza. Divertitevi, nel farlo! La democrazia digitale non è un sogno, è e dovrà essere una realtà!
